I am looking on unity's website for educational pricing and can't find it. The closest thing that I've seen is something telling educational institutions to contact them separately. Has anybody else had success?

Unity sells the student licenses through a 3rd party company, Studica:

The one you want is probably "Unity 4.x Pro Student with Team License" for $93. You can also pay extra for Android and iOS export. "Team License" lets you connect to the Unity Asset Server that we run for doing version control and collaboration.

This version is an annual contract license, so it only lasts for 1 year.
It is also watermarked, and cannot be used for commercial projects. Check the current license details carefully if you want to release on App Store or Google Play, even non-commercial.

The "student commercial" license is $749:

This one is not watermarked and you -can- use it commercially.
